THE SCRAPBOOK: Visualizing the Goal

Visual Art made by Genka M.

This is a little scrapbook I created with my beauty goals — the version of myself I know I can be.

I made it for two reasons:

  1. As a creative outlet (I thought the scrapbook idea was cute and fun to put together).

  2. Because I’m a visual person. I need to see things to stay motivated — it keeps the goal alive in my head.

The Girl in the Mirror

There’s always been a version of myself that I could see in my mind. A certain look, a certain glow — a confidence. She was there... but not in the mirror. Not yet.

I wasn’t quite her — but I wanted to be.

So I used the scrapbook to guide me. To help me keep going. To remind me that even if I didn’t see her yet, she was coming — naturally, of course. No shortcuts. Just me choosing to become her.

And might I add— it hasn’t been easy.

Some days, Im determines to keep up with my routines. Consistent, motivated.
Other days, I’m feeling like, “What is the actual point?”

The Way We See Ourselves

Here’s the thing: we don’t see ourselves the way others do.

We see what’s in the mirror — every wrinkle, every dark spot, every pore. We pick ourselves apart because we spend majority of our lives not being able to see ourselves, so the times that we do..we truly see everything. Zooming in on things no one else notices.

Our imperfections get magnified under our own lens.
That’s why people can compliment you and you still don’t believe it. You’re stuck on something they don’t even notice.

More Than Skin-Deep

Sure, I wanted to “fix” some problem areas — not just on the surface-level..but beyond that. I wasn’t enough for me to conceal my dark circles with makeup. I didn’t want to keep slapping gel on my edges just to hide thinning spots. I wanted to solve the problem, not disguise it.

So I started doing the research:

  • What causes dark circles?

  • How do I grow my edges back?

  • What nutrients am I missing?

I wanted to take care of these things now — not wait until it was too late; the point of no return.

And yes, I’m that vain — lol. But I mean, who isn’t in 2025?

The Aging Conversation

People always wonder, “What is this obsession with aging?”
Is it not natural to age?

Of course it is. But here’s the truth:
A lot of what we call ‘aging’ has nothing to do with the aging process at all.

We’ve moved away from natural foods and habits that kept us healthy and youthful. regardless of how many years we’ve been on this earth. That’s why there are some people who look 30 years younger at 55 — and others look older than they are by 30. Why? It’s a matter of how we take care of ourselves.

It comes down to:

  • How you eat. Am I getting the proper nutrients? Protein?

  • How you move. Staying active? Exercising?

  • How you manage stress.

All of these factors determine how we age. It’s not about trying to stop time — it’s about taking care of the body you were given.

The Patience Struggle

The real challenge? Getting from where I am to where I want to be.

That’s the thing about progress.. it really tests your patience.

I didn’t want to wait for my hair to grow ½ inch a month.
I didn’t want to wait for my supplements to kick in and clear up my skin.
I didn’t want to wait for none of it. What's that commercial jingle? “ I’ts my money, and I need it now!”

But I knew... if this was what I truly wanted, I wouldn’t give up on myself.

I had to trust the process.
I had to keep showing up.

Because that version of me? She’s worth waiting for.

xo,
