31 NIGHTS OF SPOOKY SEASON!!đŸ‘»

It's October, the leaves are falling, the weather is getting cooler

You know what that means — it’s spooky season! A time for visiting haunted houses, pumpkin picking, and cozying up under the covers to watch some scary sh**.

Whether Halloween is your thing (it's not mine), you have to admit, this time of year is pretty cool. I love to be scared. I don't know, I think something's wrong with me. Whether you're watching with friends or alone — who cares! Grab a blanket and some popcorn and get ready to be spooked.

In no particular order, here’s a list of scary movies I think are a vibe.
P.S. Just because it’s a scary movie doesn’t make it a vibe.

Starting with my top 5:

Hocus Pocus (1993)

This was my absolute favorite movie to watch during spooky season — and still one of my faves today.
â™Ș ♫ I put a spell on you... and now you're gone (Gone, gone, gone, so long!) ♫ â™Ș
Ugh, Winifred did that. I feel like watching it right now.

Fear Street: Pt. 1-3 (2021)

Let me start by saying, the Fear Street trilogy on Netflix is dope. If you haven’t watched it, now’s your time.
I was skeptical about watching Fear Street: Prom Queen (separate from the Netflix series), but I did — and now you don’t have to. Can you say ass?

Out of all the Fear Street movies, this one’s the only one I wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Let’s pretend it doesn’t exist.
But Fear Street 1994, 1978, and 1666? đŸ‘ŒđŸŸ. If you’re into stuff like Stranger Things or teen slasher scariness, these are definitely worth your time.

Scream (1996-)

Between “Hello Sydney” and “Would you like to play a game?”

The original? Iconic. The newer ones? Surprisingly good.
Ghostface never misses — except when he does. Still, I'll be patiently waiting for Scream 7 in 2026.

The Craft (1996)

With this one, you're definitely in for a ride. Witchy, grungy, peak 90s girl magic — sprinkled with a big moral lesson.
Light as a feather, stiff as a board. (You know the scene.)

Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (1998)

A Cartoon Network classic. One of the best Scooby-Doo movies to date — and honestly an amazing horror movie overall.
From the memorable characters to the thrilling storyline, catchy songs, and beautiful animation, decades later and it never gets boring.
Prepare to be spooked by this cartoon — it’s definitely Terror Time again.

Plus more to choose from:

Alvin and the Chipmunks: Meet the Wolfman (2000)
Don’t judge me — this one had me in a chokehold as a kid. It’s spooky and wholesome.

Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire (2000)
Disney Channel gold. Iconic. That’s all I’ll say.

Halloweentown & Halloweentown II (1998 & 2001)
The catchy music. The Marnie Cromwell? Just watched it with a friend and I felt like a kid again.

Twitches & Twitches Too (2005 & 2007)
Tia + Tamera Mowry = Magic ✹ Twice.

IT & IT: Chapter Two (2017 & 2019)
A clown-faced demon who eats children? Yeah, totally not cool.
Excited to get traumatized all over again with the upcoming series IT: Welcome to Derry.

Freddy vs. Jason (2003)
Is it good? Ehh. Is it fun? Absolutely. And that's all that matters.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019)
This one surprised me. Creepy in all the right ways.

Casper (1995)
Ghosts always had a bad rep — until the world met Casper, the friendly ghost.
He had no business being that adorable.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
Is it a Christmas or a Halloween movie? Hm
 how about both.

US (2019)
If it’s Jordan Peele, you already know it’s about to get weird.

Monster House (2006)
Imagine your neighbors go missing
and turns out the house is eating people.

Jeeper’s Creepers (2001 & 2003)
The jingle alone gives me the chills. Just when I thought the 1st one was scary, the 2nd took the cake.

The Tower of Terror (1997)
Creepy, old Hollywood, and surprisingly good. Bring this era of Disney Channel back, please. And the ride at Disney? Leave you soulless — just like the guests in the elevator.

Beetlejuice & Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (1988, 2024)
Say his name three times. You already know what it is.

Halloween (1978 and beyond)
Poor Laurie..she’s been running for decades. Too bad Michael Myers never forgets a face.

Trick ‘r Treat (2007)
Is it good? Debatable. But it’ll definitely have you thinking after the credits roll.

I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997)
Moral of the story: Don’t hit and run. Ever.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974 or 2003)
I never wanted to visit Texas after watching this.

Slither (2006)
Gross. Disgusting. Cool? I think so.

13 Ghosts (2001)
One word. Jackal. That’s it. That’s all.

Okay, so I think that’s 31 movies in total for 31 nights of spooky season!
Some are creepy, some are cozy, some are downright chaotic. That’s the point. Spooky season isn’t just about being scared — it’s about feeling something. Nostalgia. Weirdness. Vibes.

Until next time,

It was either this or “Monster Mash,” but I don’t know — Michael Jackson’s Thriller just screams spooky season.
