HEALTHY FAST FOOD SPOTS I <3
This is for all of my foodies out in the NYC area — or those planning to visit. I can only speak on the places I’ve tried personally (so don’t come for me if they exist elsewhere too 😅). But here in the city? If you’re looking to grab something quick, fast, and in a hurry — I got you.
Now... I know what you're thinking:
Healthy + fast food? How does that even go together?!
Okay, fine.. I’ll put you on.
PLNT BURGER
Craving a good old tasty burger with a side of fries? I got you! And yes — it’s plant-based.
I usually stick with their classic PLNT Burger, but on March 28th, I decided, let me switch it up. It had been a while, and I thought, “Why not be spontaneous today?”
It’s funny…I was just talking to a friend about how much I actually like mushrooms. And guess what was on the menu?
PLNT Mushroom BBQ Bacon Burger.
Now the word “bacon” didn’t sound too healthy. So I asked the cashier what kind of bacon it was. They said, “It’s made from mushrooms!?” I was sold.
Whopping 460 calories and 19g of protein. I’m so happy I took a chance on it because now it’s my new go-to.
On My Radar:
The Chick’n Sandwiches
The PLNT Chili Bowl
And the Sweet Potato Crinkle Fries (because duh)
I’ll let y’all know how those go.
NEXT LEVEL BURGER
One thing about me?
I love me a good milkshake.
But conventional milkshakes? They’re just not it — and my body reminds me every single time I try to cheat my diet.
I passed this restaurant so many times, always telling myself, “One day I’ll try it.”
Well, that day finally came — and BABY... 🔥
They have the BEST milkshakes.
And the gag is… they’re actually healthy.
Made with soy or oat milk or both — your choice. Pair that off with a tasty vegan burger and muah — chef’s kiss.
My Go-Tos:
Cookie Dough Milkshake
Cookies & Cream Milkshake
Chipotle Burger (I love Chipotle anything)
Clearly, I have a thing for cookies 😅.
I haven’t tried all the flavors yet because I tend to stick to what I know — but with the way that menu is looking? I might just make an exception.
Next up is their chicken sandwich.
Honestly, there’s just so many options to choose from, I don’t even know where to start.
DOS TOROS
Feeling for some Mexican food?
Dos Toros is what I consider a healthier alternative to Chipotle.
Now listen — in my head, Chipotle is already pretty healthy… but I know some people would disagree.
Dos Toros gives the same build-your-own bowl or burrito vibes. They even have the toppings you love — just feels a bit fresher. Definitely worth checking out.
Normally, at Chipotle I get tacos but at Dos Toros I’ve only tried their burritos. Maybe next time, I'll give their tacos a try.
VAN LEEUWAN ICE-CREAM
It’s summer, and your taste buds are gonna want something cold and sweet.
Who would’ve thought… vegan ice cream?
You wouldn't even know it’s vegan.
Van Leeuwen really did their thing with their flavors. Cookies & cream will always be that one for me — and lucky for us, they’ve got multiple plant-based versions. The texture is be a bit gritty but that’s expected when you’re skipping the dairy. Still? Yum!
If you’re ever in NYC or the Midwest, don’t forget to stop by and grab you one.
I’m determined to find foods that taste really good but are still healthy — so I never feel like I have to cheat my diet. I mean, why settle when you can have both?
